Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy S.A. (SGRE), a global leader in wind energy solutions, was born in 2017 after the merger of Gamesa Corporación Tecnológica and Siemens Wind Power. Since then, SGRE has led the #2 global wind market and #1 offshore wind. With more than 26,000 employees and a presence in 39 countries, it has installed more than 110GW.
SGRE offers vast experience throughout the value chain in the wind market with 3 business units and a versatile portfolio of products and services adapted to market needs: Onshore (93.1GW), Offsfore (16.9GW) and Services (75.5GW in 58 countries).
SGRE participated in 1991 in the commissioning of the first offshore wind farm on the Danish coast. In 2009, he participated in the first demo project for the installation of a floating turbine in Norway.
In 2017 it equips the 1st commercial offshore wind farm in Scotland (30MW) with turbines. In 2020, it supplies the largest offshore wind farm with 1.2GW in the United Kingdom, while participating in what will be the largest floating wind farm in Norway (88MW).
In 2020, SGRE launches the SG 14-222 DD for its offshore segment. With an unprecedented capacity of 14MW, 222 m of rotor, 108 m blades and 39,000 m2 of swept area. 30 SG 14-222 DD turbines could cover Bilbao’s annual electricity consumption.
After partnering with Siemens Energy, its main shareholder, SGRE will adapt the world’s most powerful wind turbine (SG 14-222 DD) to integrate the electrolyzer and directly produce green hydrogen.
