IHCantabria is a public sector research center, with more than 10 years and 40 experience projects in the field of marine energy. It manages the Great Maritime Engineering Basin (CCOB), one of the Singular Scientific Technical Infrastructure promoted by the Government of Spain, the Government of Cantabria and the EU capable of testing marine energy generation devices.
We provide advanced experience and independent research in the field of offshore engineering and in the development of technology solutions for deepwater wind power. Our parks of expertise cover a wide part of the offshore wind value chain:
– Characterization of the wind resource: for test, demonstration and / or commercial parks.
– Planning of maritime space.
– Environmental impact assessment: Study of coastal effects and environmental impact. Help with obtaining permits.
– Logistic design for the construction of offshore wind farms: study of adaptation of ports for installation, uninstallation and O&M operations. Adaptation of these infrastructures to climate change and risk reduction in the face of extreme weather events.
– Technological development of platforms for the generation of marine energy: numerical and experimental modelling, advanced test techniques in a surge basin
– Technological solutions in the Operation and Maintenance of offshore wind farms.
