The company increased in 2020 its installed renewables capacity globally to 4.6 GW. The company plans to invest at least 1 billion by 2021 to develop to acquired renewable projects (United States, Spain, Australia and Chile).
All of this without abandoning fundamental objectives, such as an industrial strategy of value creation and growth in all of the businesses, as well as ESG objectives. In 2020, the company set up a Sustainability Committee, which is responsible for monitoring and supervising the company’s role in the energy transition and for strengthening the Board’s commitment in this area; and the gender equality of the workforce continued to increase, because of the company’s commitment to diversity and gender equality policies.
The company has set new targets to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by at least 21% by 2022 compared to 2017. In the last three years, Naturgy has reduced its absolute emissions by nearly 30% and CO2 intensity by 23%.
The company’s performance in social, environmental and good governance issues has enabled it to take leading positions in the main sustainability indices and rankings in the worlds, among which are the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, the FTSE4GOOD or the Carbon Disclosure Project, as well as the European Business Awards for the Environment from the European Commission.
