WINDBOX began its work in 2014 within the framework of the Basque Country’s Advanced Manufacturing Strategy and has the impetus and support of the Basque Government’s Department of Economic Development and Competitiveness, SPRI and the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, as well as with the logistical support of Tekniker.

Windbox has 4 test benches:

• The hydraulic pitch bench makes it possible to test and optimize the pitch (pitch) change system of wind turbines in conditions very similar to those of a real wind farm. Possibility to test cylinders and hydraulic units in integrated configuration.
• The generator’s ring body bench makes it possible to test and optimize the ring body of a wind generator.
• The blade bearing bench allows testing on the joint bushing and blade bearing system, as well as their joints.
• The yaw system bench allows to test and validate the nacelle orientation system (yaw) under variable temperature conditions (up to -40 ºC).
