Global Steel Wire, S.A. (GSW) is the CELSA Group company specialized in the manufacture of high value‑added steel wire rod, aimed at industrial sectors with demanding technical requirements. It is part of CELSA, one of Europe’s largest producers of long steel products and a leader in Spain, with a track record based on innovation, industrial integration, and sustainability.
GSW operates in Santander (Cantabria), where it has a single production facility that integrates the main stages of the steelmaking process. Its economic activity is focused on steel production in an electric arc furnace and its subsequent transformation into wire rod. Manufacturing is based on a circular economy model, using recycled scrap as the main raw material, which is melted in an electric arc furnace together with other metallurgical inputs. This process produces a steel semi‑product known as billet, which is subsequently transformed through rolling into a wide range of wire rod grades and diameters.
GSW is particularly positioned in products for the automotive sector, although it also supplies industries such as construction, agriculture, energy, oil & gas, and shipbuilding.
The wire rod manufactured by GSW is used in applications such as fasteners, suspension springs, machined parts, case-hardened components, tire reinforcement, strands, high-strength cables, and drawn wire. The company offers an extensive product range, including wire rods for cold heading, tire reinforcement, springs, free-machining, calibration, and case hardening. Its industrial process combines an electric arc furnace steel plant and continuous casting with a high-performance rolling mill capable of producing diameters between 5.5 mm and 52 mm.
